About Me

My name is Sharon Jones-Tyler and I have been teaching for 23 years, 11 of those years have been at Morrow Elementary School.  I was born and raised in Long Island, New York.  I graduated from Molloy College with a Bachelors Degree in Public Relations and communications,  I also went to Adelphi Unversity twice!  The first time I received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education, and the second time I graduated with a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration and Technology.  I have served in many different educational roles such as Grade level chair, English Language Arts Department Lead, and Director of Curriculum.  I love teaching and learning.  My favorite subject is reading, and my favorite color is purple.

I have two wonderful children.  They are 12.  If you haven't guessed they are twins.  One is a boy and one is a girl they are in 7th grade. I enjoy spending time with them.  We like to travel and when we aren't traveling we like going to Six Flags and White Water.  I also enjoy talking to my sister who still lives in NY.  Sometimes I get homesick and miss NY.  My son plays football, and my daughter enjoys dancing.  They both play instruments and are in the band at school.  I also enjoy scouting.  I have been a Girl Scout for over 20 years and am a Troop Leader.  Both my children participate in Scouts and really enjoy it.

Even though I have taught for 23 years, I am new to Fifth Grade.  This is only my second year teaching it, so sometimes I get nervous.  One thing I know is that school can be so much fun especially if you open up your mind to listen and learn.
